O come O come Emmanuel
Theres a traditional hymn that is sung during Advent. And it's this one.

A couple of years ago Dana Masters - our pastors wife and a professional jazz singer, sang a most wonderfully haunting and goose-bump inducing version of this at a carol service. She sang it as a heartfelt lament and a desperate heart-cry to Jesus that He would come again. Id heard it many times before, but suddenly the words became alive and I realised how much we, as the church, need to be praying these words. Come Lord Jesus. Rescue us from the tyranny of sin. Bring us peace and light and hope.
The chorus seems to be God's reply to that heartfelt cry. God says ' I hear you and Im coming'
This year this song seems even more poignant, relevant and necessary.
I hope you can take a few minutes to use these words as a prayer today.
